SPRING SEASON 2026
Dear alumni member,
HKUAA Choir will begin a new round of recruitment of choral singers performing Mozart's masterpiece “MAGIC FLUTE” in SARPO two concerts!
Mozart’s The Magic Flute is a radiant opera blending enchanting music, humor, and profound symbolism. First performed in 1791, it follows Tamino and Pamina’s journey toward enlightenment through courage, love, and wisdom. The work offers glorious choral opportunities—majestic temple hymns, vibrant finales, and expressive ensemble moments. Its themes of truth, harmony, and the triumph of light over darkness make it both inspiring and uplifting. Singers join a magical world where music embodies brotherhood, integrity, and joy. Performing The Magic Flute in a concert setting is an artistic celebration of humanity’s eternal quest for understanding, unity, and spiritual awakening through the power of song.
HKUAA Choir takes this opportunity to thank Dr. Lesley Chan, our voluntary music director who offers both his time and expertise in coaching and uplifting the quality of choral singing and performance! We also thank Ms. Florence Ng our voluntary assistant music director cum founder for her dedication and support as accompanist throughout the seasons of performance!
Details of Event: Dates: Sunday April 12, 2026 in the afternoon. Monday April 13, 2026 in the evening.
Venue: Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert Hall.
Hosted by: SAR Philharmonic Orchestra (SARPO).
Audition date: Saturday January 10, 2026 2:00-5:00pm (timeslots will be allocated to all applicants).
Venue of audition and rehearsals: HKUAA Clubhouse, 1/F Yip Fung Bldg., 2D Aguilar Street, Central.
Rehearsal schedule: 1st rehearsal Saturday January 24 3:00-4:30pm and the same hereafter. January 31 February 7, 14, 28 March 7, 14, 21, 28 Extra rehearsals with SARPO and other choirs will be arranged on the following evenings: March 11, 23, 30 April 1, 9 Exact time and venues to be confirmed later.
Subscription fee: $810 per person (50% discount for HKU 1st degree holders from 2020).
