Abstract:
As AI continues to shape various aspects of our lives, it is crucial to move beyond the buzz and uncover the realities and misconceptions surrounding AI. In this sharing, we will begin by exploring thought-provoking questions, such as: Does AI function because it has human-like understanding? Has the AI era depicted in fiction movies already arrived or is it approaching in the near future? What is the age of the AI field? Moving forward, we will distinguish AI from related fields like machine learning and deep learning, while also clarifying popular terms such as big data, GPU, and neural networks within the context of AI. Next, we will dispel misconceptions surrounding ChatGPT. The range of ChatGPT's capabilities and practical tips for using ChatGPT effectively will be addressed. Lastly, we will explore the implications of AI on future careers. Questions such as whether AI will replace humans and considerations for individuals aspiring for an AI career will be discussed.

Dr. Xing Xing (Symphony) is a Research Assistant Professor in Stanley Ho Big Data Decision Analytics Research Centre, CUHK.
