A Visit to Normandy by Mr. Vincent WONG
Normandy is a French province located in northwest France. It covers roughly the historical Duchy of Normandy. It includes mainland Normandy as well as the Channel Islands. The region's history is most intriguing. The name Normandy comes from the settlement of the territory by Vikings ("Northman"). For almost 150 years following the conquest of England by the Normans in 1066, Normandy and England were linked by having the same ruler, i.e. the Duke of Normandy as well as the King of England. This development heavily influenced the culture of France as well as England, leaving behind many interesting heritage. Most people however only know of the place because of the Normandy Landings during the Second World War. Without a doubt, this event was a turning point in 20th century history and therefore a site visit to its various beaches and museums is warranted. Apart from the above, Normandy is a very scenic place with a beautiful coastline that is dotted with small towns and monasteries such as the very famous Mont Saint-Michel, which is a destination not to be missed.

“Very useful guide for my future trip!”
”Now what I have seen makes much more sense. Thank you!”
