MONTHLY PROFESSIONAL ALUMNI GET-TOGETHER

(for alumni of different classes) - APRIL 2008

This gathering aims to provide all HKU graduates with a casual and relaxing opportunity to share your views/experience with fellow HKU alumni of different years and from different faculties, or you may simply enjoy a chat with one another. This gathering is NOT restricted to any particular discipline and AGE! You are also welcome to bring along your friends.

GUEST OF HONOUR: Dr. Lo Wing Lok, JP勞永樂醫生

"Doctoring patients, outbreaks and the community - a sharing of my trials and errors"

Dr. Lo was a graduate of Faculty of Medicine Class 1979. His specialty is infectious diseases and he served as a member of the Legislative Council from 2000 to 2004, representing the Medical Functional Constituency. He became a public health advocate since 1997, helping the community to overcome emerging infectious diseases. Dr. Lo will give a 20-minutes speech in the event.

勞永樂醫生，1979年畢業於香港大學醫學院。堅持專業人士首要任務是回饋社會，服務市民。十年以來，無償為社群奉獻大部分工作時間。1997年香港爆發全球首次人禽流感，18人感染，6人死亡。勞醫生力排眾議，倡導殺雞，成功控制禽流感。2003年香港爆發「沙士」疫情，全城惶恐不安。在疫情進入高峰之際，勞醫生呼籲全港團結抗疫，請市民成為正在「霧裡行軍」的醫療隊伍後盾，並馬不停蹄走訪各區，鼓勵市民自助自救。結果，全民皆兵，成功克服死亡疫症。
