Countries in Pictures – Travel Talk Series

Traveling to world’s ancient countries through talks and rich collections of pictures

MONGOLIA by Mr. Vincent WONG

Mongolia is an increasingly compelling travel destination, offering a unique blend of untouched nature, living history, and genuine adventure that's becoming rare to find. As the least densely populated country in the world, Mongolia offers vast open space with breath taking and very diverse landscape from sand dunes covered Gobi Desert to the glacier topped Altai Mountains and the pristine Lake Hövsgöl. The country's very rugged terrain shelters remarkable and rare wildlife like the Przewalski's horse, snow leopards, wild camels, gazelles and golden eagles. It is also paradise for palaeontologists being home for many dinosaur discoveries. Mongolia has a deep and profound history which traced back to the days of the Mongol Empire under Genghis Kahn. Although the empire had long disappeared, its vibrant culture remains as reflected by the many colourful festivals like the Naadam and the Golden Eagle Festival. The talk will try to explore all of the above followed by a virtual tour to some of the key tourist destinations.

Testimonials from participants of previous travel talks and study tours led by Vincent:

“I have learnt a lot on this subject!”

“Very comprehensive indeed. Thanks!”

“Very useful guide for my future trip!”

”Now what I have seen makes much more sense. Thank you!”
